What We Believe

We aren't perfect - we have all disappointed the perfect God who made us, and need his help in order to be right with Him again. God sent his Son, Jesus Christ, to rescue ALL people from the consequences of our imperfections and make us right with Him again. Jesus did that by living a perfect life here in our world, dying in our place, and rising to life again. Forgiveness and eternal life with God are gifts from God given by grace (undeserved love) alone through faith (trust) in Jesus alone. The only true God is the God of the Bible: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The Bible is God's Word and is completely true and relevant for our lives. We base all of our teaching on the Bible.

We Believe:
  • The Bible is the inspired Word of God and without error.
  • in the Triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  • Humankind is totally corrupt, dead in sin and doomed to condemnation by itself.
  • God, out of love, took pity on us and sent his Son to be our Saviour.
  • Jesus Christ became true man, by virgin birth, to live and die for us and so set us free from sin.
  • Forgiveness of sins and eternal life are freely given to us through faith in Jesus as our Saviour. We cannot obtain them by anything that we do.
  • God the Holy Spirit uses the Good News of this message to create that faith and change lives.
  • There is More Joy Than Guilt in the Bible, because God loves us even though we don't deserve it!
  • This JOY is ours through faith in Jesus as our Saviour!
Would you like to know how you can be sure of eternal life in heaven with God?

The Bible - God's Word - Salvation

We believe that the entire Bible is the Word of God, and follow it as our only standard for what we believe and teach. There are two main teachings in the Bible: The Law and The Gospel. The Law tells us that God demands perfection from us. You may have heard of the Ten Commandments. We still believe God holds us to their standard of perfection and promises He will punish us for failing to keep them. We also believe, as the Bible tells us, that we have not kept them!

That creates a problem!

But the good news is that God solves that problem. He sent his Son to obey those commandments that we couldn't obey for us. And that is what Jesus did. He lived the perfect life God demanded from us and then gave us that perfection. Jesus then also willingly gave his life for us on the cross. He died the death we deserved so we wouldn't have to. He suffered the eternal death our souls were headed for. And that paid for all of our sins, our mistakes, entirely! Now God sees us as perfect and without sin! Our relationship with Him is restored. And even though we may face physical problems and death someday, we have eternal life to look forward to with our loving God! This is the Gospel!

So now, we still do our best to keep God's commands. But not to earn eternal life. Rather, to thank God for giving us eternal life!

There are many passages in the Bible that will back all of these things up. I would love to tell you which ones. The Bible has an important place in your life. I encourage you to check it out. Because, as the it says at the end of the book of John…

But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.
JOHN 20:31

The Apostle's Creed

We aren't making up something new! We believe what Christians have believed about the truths of our loving Triune God since the beginning of Christianity 2000 years ago. They expressed their faith in these words, and this still serves as our confession today…

I believe in God the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty. From there He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit; the holy Christian church, the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
